01 · What is this set

Everything for a first battle, in one box

Starter Set ex Zorua & Zoroark ex (スターターセットex ゾロア&ゾロアークex) is one of three ready-to-play decks Pokémon released in Japan on 31 July 2026 for the MEGA series, on the same day as Storm Emeralda. It is built around Zoroark ex and Darkness-type Pokémon.

The box holds a 60-card deck, a playmat, a Pokémon coin, a sheet of damage counters and markers, a player's guide and a rules booklet. Pokémon notes that the playmat and the coin are fixed for each product, that the counters are paper, and that some cards are reprints from earlier series. What you buy here is the Japanese print, in the Japanese box.

02 · The story

One full-art Zorua in every box

The deck counts 19 numbered cards, 001/019 to 019/019, plus 16 basic Darkness Energy. A 20th card sits above the count: Zorua 020/019, a full-art (AR) print. Every box has exactly one — it is not a random pull.

Around it, the deck mixes the Zorua–Zoroark ex line with Purrloin and Liepard, Carvanha and Sharpedo, Darkrai, Morpeko and Zarude, and Trainer cards that competitive players already use: four Lillie's Determination, four Poké Pad and two Boss's Orders. Iris's Fighting Spirit appears only in this deck of the three.

09 · Questions

Before you open one

What exactly is in the box?
A 60-card deck, a playmat, a Pokémon coin, one sheet of paper damage counters and markers, a player's guide and a rules booklet. The playmat and the coin are the same in every Zorua & Zoroark ex box.
Is the full-art card guaranteed?
Yes. The deck is fixed, and Zorua 020/019 (AR) is one of its 60 cards, so every box has exactly one.
Can two people play with one box?
No — a battle needs two decks. Pokémon released three Starter Set ex decks on the same day (Eevee ex, Zorua & Zoroark ex, Sprigatito & Meowscarada ex), so two different boxes make a match.
Is this the Japanese version?
Yes. This is the Japanese Starter Set ex Zorua & Zoroark ex (set mark MEZ), released in Japan on 31 July 2026, with Japanese-language cards.
