Set overview

Set code: SM7b
Japanese name: 強化拡張パック フェアリーライズ
Cards: 50 + secret rares
Release date: 3 August 2018
Era: Sun & Moon
Series type: Enhancement expansion (強化拡張パック)

Fairy Rise gave Fairy-type players a significant boost with new GX options and support cards. The set also introduced Lost Zone mechanics with cards that sent opposing Pokémon and energy to the Lost Zone — a mechanic that would become increasingly important in future sets.

Key cards

GX cards: Alolan Ninetales-GX (Fairy type) headlines the set with its versatile Mysterious Guidance ability and fairy-type attacks. Mimikyu-GX (Fairy type), Granbull (Fairy type, non-GX but competitively dominant), and other Fairy-type cards define the set's identity. Each GX has RR and SR versions.

Notable cards: Granbull's All Out attack made it one of the most successful non-GX competitive decks. Lost Blender and other Lost Zone-related trainer cards foreshadowed the Lost Zone era.

Secret Rares: SR Full Art GX cards and HR Rainbow Rares. UR gold trainer cards provide the premium chase elements.

What is in the box

A Japanese SM7b Fairy Rise booster box contains 30 packs of 5 cards each. The compact card pool makes pulling specific Fairy-type GX cards achievable. SR and HR pull rates average roughly one per box.
