Set overview

Cruel Traitor was the eleventh and final main expansion of the XY era in Japan. Combined with Fever-Burst Fighter, the two sets totalled approximately 104 cards. The set introduced the Dual-type mechanic for select Pokémon, and featured BREAK Evolutions alongside traditional Pokémon-EX and Mega Evolutions. Booster packs contained five cards each.

Key cards

Steelix-EX and M Steelix-EX headlined as the Mega Evolution pair, with M Steelix-EX offering a powerful Steel-type attacker. Volcanion-EX became a format-defining card that powered up Fire-type Basic Pokémon with its Steam Up Ability.

BREAK cards included Yanmega BREAK, Talonflame BREAK, Pyroar BREAK, Clawitzer BREAK, and Yveltal BREAK. Yveltal BREAK was especially notable as an upgrade to the already-strong Yveltal line. Ninja Boy became a popular tech Supporter for swapping Basic Pokémon mid-game.

What is in the box

A Japanese XY11 booster box contains 20 packs of 5 cards. Cruel Traitor and Fever-Burst Fighter were sold as separate booster boxes. Secret rares include Full Art EX and Full Art Supporter cards.
