01 · What is this set

One artist, a whole table set

30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX (ポケモンカードゲーム MEGA「30th CELEBRATION FUTURISTIC BOX」) was released in Japan on 16 September 2026 for the Pokémon Card Game's 30th anniversary, on the same day as the 30th CELEBRATION booster expansion. Pokémon describes it as a battle supply set that brings in the design of graphic artist YOSHIROTTEN, built around two Pikachu ex promo cards he illustrated.

According to Pokémon, the box holds the two Pikachu ex promo cards (one of each), two Pokémon coins, 12 metal damage-counter dice, one metal Poison marker and one metal Burn marker, a set of 64 special deck shields, a flip deck case, a special display frame, a special half-size rubber playmat for one player, a flip damage-counter case and a flip playmat case. In Japan it was offered through Pokémon Center Online. What you buy here is the Japanese print, in the Japanese box.

02 · The story

YOSHIROTTEN and the Futuristic Rare

YOSHIROTTEN, born in 1983, is an artist whose work, in Pokémon's own introduction, lets light and matter, the spiritual and the evidential, the ancient and the future meet and coexist. His solo exhibitions include FUTURE NATURE (2018), SUN (2023, at Japan National Stadium), Radial Graphics Bio (2024, ginza graphic gallery) and FUTURE NATURE II In Kagoshima (2024, Kirishima Open-Air Museum).

For the 30th anniversary, the 30th CELEBRATION expansion introduced a new rarity, FUR — Futuristic Rare — with Mew ex and Mewtwo ex illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN, plus basic Energy cards in his design, one in every pack. The two Pikachu ex in this box are his work in the same FUR style: 131/M-P on a light, pastel field, 132/M-P on deep purple. Both carry the 30th-anniversary mark, and Pokémon Center Online lists them as Premium Kira (holo) cards.
