01 · What is this set

Where Pokémon VSTAR began

Star Birth (拡張パック「スターバース」, S9) is a Japanese expansion pack released on 14 January 2022, five cards per pack. It is the set that introduced Pokémon VSTAR.

The list has 100 numbered cards and 27 secret cards: 16 SR, 8 HR and 3 UR. What you buy here is the Japanese print, in the box shown above.

02 · The story

One VSTAR Power per game

A Pokémon VSTAR evolves from a Pokémon V and carries a VSTAR Power — a move a player can use only once in a whole game. Star Birth brought the first four: Arceus, Charizard, Shaymin and Whimsicott.

Arceus leads the set, with two SR versions of Arceus V and Arceus VSTAR in HR and gold UR. Charizard V also comes twice, as a full-art SR and a Special Art, alongside Special Arts of Lumineon V and Honchkrow V. On the Trainer side are Cynthia's Ambition, Kindler, Cheren's Care and Roseanne's Backup, each in SR and HR.

09 · Questions

Before you open one

Is this the Japanese or the English set?

Japanese. Star Birth (S9) is a Japanese set released on 14 January 2022, numbered out of 100. The English set Brilliant Stars drew on it together with another Japanese set, so its list and numbering are different.

What is in a pack?

Five cards.

How many cards are in the set?

100 numbered cards and 27 secret cards — 16 SR, 8 HR and 3 UR, numbered 101 to 127. A box does not guarantee the full set.

What is a Pokémon VSTAR?

A Pokémon that evolves from a Pokémon V and carries a VSTAR Power — a move that can be used only once per game. Star Birth is the set where Pokémon VSTAR first appeared.

What does SA mean?

Special Art — a second SR version of a Pokémon V with a full illustrated scene. This set has four: Charizard V, Lumineon V, Honchkrow V and Arceus V.

What does “sealed, never resealed” mean?

The box arrives in the original Japanese factory shrink film, as it left the manufacturer. We do not open or re-wrap boxes.

What does “no shrink” mean?

Japanese Pokémon booster boxes are shrink-wrapped at the factory. “No shrink” describes a box sold without that outer film. The Star Birth box in our store comes in its original Japanese factory shrink film.

Do you ship to Germany and France?

Yes. Every parcel ships tracked with FedEx. Shipping is calculated at checkout from the destination and the weight of your cart.

Who pays import duties?

The buyer. Prices do not include import duties or taxes; your carrier may bill them before or after delivery. Check your country's rules before ordering.
