Thirty packs, five cards, one hundred and eight cards in the set

Violet ex (バイオレットex, SV1V) is a Japanese expansion pack in the Scarlet & Violet series, released on 20 January 2023 alongside its twin set Scarlet ex (SV1S). Each pack holds 5 cards and a box holds 30 packs.

Of the set’s 108 cards, 78 are numbered and 30 sit beyond the main list: 12 AR, 10 SR, 5 SAR and 3 UR. What you buy here is the Japanese print, on Japanese card stock, in the 30-pack box shown above.

“Legendary Pokémon appear as Pokémon ex for the first time”

伝説のポケモンがポケモンexとして初登場 — the official site covers both January boxes at once, and the copy is the same for each: high-HP Pokémon ex worth 2 Prize cards, printed as Basic and as Evolution Pokémon, and Terastal Pokémon that take no damage from attacks while they sit on the Bench. Violet ex is the Miraidon half.

Six Pokémon ex sit inside the main numbering — Spidops ex (№ 008), Arcanine ex (№ 016), Magnezone ex (№ 028), Miraidon ex (№ 037), Banette ex (№ 041) and Iron Treads ex (№ 058). Miraidon ex, the box legendary of Pokémon Violet, is the card this box is built around: it is printed four times, plain at № 037, Super Rare at № 094, Special Art Rare at № 102 by kantaro and gold Ultra Rare at № 106. Is this the Japanese or the English set?
Japanese. Violet ex (バイオレットex, SV1V) is the Japanese expansion pack released on 20 January 2023. In English these cards appeared in the Scarlet & Violet base set on 31 March 2023, together with the cards of the Japanese Scarlet ex (SV1S).
What is the difference between Violet ex and Scarlet ex?
They launched the same day as a pair, each in its own box with its own numbering. Violet ex is headed by Miraidon ex, the box legendary of Pokémon Violet; Scarlet ex is headed by Koraidon ex. Both run to 108 cards over a 78-card main set, and the two card lists are different.
How many times is Miraidon ex printed in this set?
Four times: plain at № 037, Super Rare at № 094, Special Art Rare at № 102 and gold Ultra Rare at № 106.
How many cards are in a box?
30 packs × 5 cards = 150 cards. The set list itself has 108 cards (78 numbered + 30 beyond the list); a box does not contain the full set.
What does “sealed, never resealed” mean?
The box arrives in the original Japanese factory shrink film, as it left the manufacturer. We do not open or re-wrap boxes.
Is there a version without shrink film?
