Thirty packs, five cards, ninety-four cards in the set

Ancient Roar (古代の咆哮, SV4K) is a Japanese expansion pack in the Scarlet & Violet series, released on 27 October 2023 alongside its paired set Future Flash (SV4M). Each pack holds 5 cards and a box holds 30 packs.

Of the set’s 94 cards, 66 are numbered and 28 sit beyond the main list: 12 AR, 9 SR, 5 SAR and 2 UR. What you buy here is the Japanese print, on Japanese card stock, in the 30-pack box shown above.

02 · The story

“The Ancient and Future Pokémon arrive”

「古代」「未来」のポケモン、襲来！ — the official line announced two sets at once on 27 October 2023. Ancient Roar carries the 古代 (Ancient) side, Future Flash the 未来 (Future) side, and each box is its own set with its own numbering.

The official page opens on Roaring Moon ex and its attack, Frenzied Gouging, which knocks out the opponent’s Active Pokémon outright, no questions asked; Sandy Shocks ex follows with an Ability that accelerates Energy once the opponent is down to four Prize cards or fewer. Roaring Moon ex is printed as Super Rare, as Special Art Rare by Ryota Murayama and as the gold Ultra Rare — and it is the only Pokémon in gold here, because this set closes with just two Ultra Rares. The Ancient Trainers shown alongside them are Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, Earthen Vessel and Professor Sada’s Vitality.

Is this the Japanese or the English set?
Japanese. Ancient Roar (古代の咆哮, SV4K) is the Japanese expansion pack released on 27 October 2023. In English its cards were merged with those of Future Flash into Paradox Rift, released on 3 November 2023.
What is the difference between Ancient Roar and Future Flash?
They launched the same day as a pair. Ancient Roar is the Ancient (古代) half, headed by Roaring Moon ex and Sandy Shocks ex; Future Flash is the Future (未来) half. Each is its own set with its own numbering and its own box.
Are there ACE SPEC cards in this set?
No. ACE SPEC returned to the Japanese game in January 2024, with Wild Force (SV5K) and Cyber Judge (SV5M). Ancient Roar, from October 2023, has none.
How many cards are in a box?
30 packs × 5 cards = 150 cards. The set list itself has 94 cards (66 numbered + 28 beyond the list); a box does not contain the full set.
What does “sealed, never resealed” mean?
The box arrives in the original Japanese factory shrink film, as it left the manufacturer. We do not open or re-wrap boxes.
Is there a version without shrink film?
When a no-shrink option exists for a set, it appears as a separate choice on the product page, photographed as it ships.
Do you ship to Germany and France?
Yes. Every parcel ships tracked with FedEx. Shipping is calculated at checkout from the destination and the weight of your cart.
