01 · What is this set

Ten packs, ten cards, and two new rarities

VSTAR Universe (VSTARユニバース, S12a) is a Japanese High Class Pack released on 2 December 2022. Every pack holds 10 cards and a box holds 10 packs. Of the set's 262 cards, 172 are numbered and 90 sit beyond the list as secret rares: 37 AR, 35 SAR, 14 SR and 4 UR.

This is the set that introduced the Art Rare and the Special Art Rare to the Japanese game — the two rarities every set since has carried. Most numbered cards have no rarity mark; V cards are RR, VMAX and VSTAR are RRR, and six Radiant Pokémon carry the K mark. What you buy here is the Japanese print, in the ten-pack box shown above.

02 · The story

A world of special art, never seen before

The official line is a promise: a world of special art like never before. VSTAR Universe closed the Sword & Shield era by inventing the two rarities that define the modern game — AR, a full illustration for a regular Pokémon, and SAR, the same for a V or VSTAR — and it filled them: 37 Art Rares, among them nine by Kouki Saitou that read as one continuous story from № 201 to 209, and 35 Special Art Rares, from Charizard VSTAR by KIYOTAKA OSHIYAMA to the trainer cards of Irida, Adaman and Cynthia.

Fourteen SR follow — six full-art supporters and eight gold basic Energies — and four gold Ultra Rares by AKIRA EGAWA close the set: Origin Forme Palkia, Origin Forme Dialga, Giratina and Arceus VSTAR.

Before you open one

Is this the Japanese or the English set?
Japanese. VSTAR Universe (S12a) is the Japanese set released on 2 December 2022. The English game printed most of these cards later inside the set Crown Zenith, with its own numbering.
Why is this set important?
It introduced the AR (Art Rare) and SAR (Special Art Rare) rarities to the Japanese game. Every Japanese set since — through Scarlet & Violet and the MEGA series — uses them.
What is a High Class Pack?
A Japanese product format with ten cards per pack instead of the usual five, built from the year's strongest cards plus new secret rares. VSTAR Universe has 10 packs per box — 100 cards in total.
How many cards are in a box?
10 packs × 10 cards = 100 cards. The set list itself has 262 cards (172 numbered + 90 secret rares); a box does not contain the full set.
What does “sealed, never resealed” mean?
The box arrives in the original Japanese factory shrink film, as it left the manufacturer. We do not open or re-wrap boxes.
Is there a version without shrink film?
Not for this set at the moment. When a no-shrink option exists, it appears as a separate choice on the product page, photographed as it ships.
Do you ship to Germany and France?
Yes. Every parcel ships tracked with FedEx. Shipping is calculated at checkout from the destination and the weight of your cart.
Who pays import duties?
