Japanese vs English One Piece Card Game: what is actually different

The numbers are the same on both sides, which makes One Piece far easier to cross-check than Pokémon. What changes is when a set arrives, and — twice so far — what is in the list.

Japanese vs English One Piece Card Game: what is actually differentDracule Mihawk SEC OP14-119 – The Azure Sea's SevenUta SEC OP02-120 – Paramount War

In short

  • The card numbers are identical: OP04-118 is OP04-118 in both languages.
  • Japan gets each set first, but the gap has collapsed — 19 weeks for OP-01, six days for OP-17.
  • Twice the English list has carried a Treasure Rare with no Japanese counterpart at all.
  • EB-04 Egghead Crisis never got a standalone English set; its cards were split across two English boosters.
  • Everything PulloraX sells is the Japanese print, in the Japanese box.

The numbering is shared

This is the part that makes One Piece simple. The English releases keep the Japanese set codes and the Japanese card numbers: OP-04 is OP-04 on both sides, and the card that is OP04-118 in Japanese is OP04-118 in English. Nothing is renumbered, nothing is regrouped, and a decklist written in one language reads in the other.

That is the opposite of Pokémon, where the English sets fold two Japanese ones together and renumber everything — the Japanese vs English Pokémon guide covers that side.

Japan first — but barely, now

For the first two years the English print ran about four months behind. OP-01 Romance Dawn came out in Japan on 22 July 2022 and in English on 2 December — nineteen weeks. Through 2023 and 2024 the gap settled between fourteen and seventeen weeks and stayed there.

Then it started closing. OP-12 landed eleven weeks later, OP-13 ten, OP-14 seven, OP-15 four, OP-16 one. OP-17 The World’s Strongest Warriors went on sale in Japan on 22 August 2026 and in English on 28 August — six days apart. The table below has every set we stock.

Where the two lists differ

It has happened twice, and both times it was a Treasure Rare. The English list for 500 Years in the Future carries ST10-010 Trafalgar Law, and the English list for Two Legends carries OP07-109 Monkey.D.Luffy. Neither appears in the Japanese list at all: 151 entries in English against 150 in Japanese, in each case.

Treasure Rare has since arrived in the Japanese line as well, from OP-16 onward — so the two sides are converging there too.

The Extra Booster exception

One set breaks the pattern completely. EB-04 Egghead Crisis came out in Japan on 31 January 2026 and never received a standalone English Extra Booster. Its cards were folded into two English boosters instead: EB04-011 to EB04-041 into the English The Azure Sea’s Seven, and EB04-001 to EB04-010 plus EB04-042 to EB04-061 into Adventure on KAMI’s Island. The numbers stayed EB04, so the cards are still identifiable — but there is no English box with EB-04 on it.

What it means when you buy here

Everything in the PulloraX vault is the Japanese print, in the Japanese box, bought in Japan. The card text is Japanese. The numbers are the ones an English player already knows. If a set is not out in English yet, the Japanese box is simply the earlier way to get it — and, as the table shows, "earlier" now often means a week.

Questions

Good to know

Is the Japanese card the same card as the English one?
It carries the same set code, the same card number and the same character. The text is printed in Japanese. Artwork treatments such as parallels are set by set and are listed on each set file in this magazine.
Why is the English list sometimes bigger than the Japanese one?
Twice so far the English list has included a Treasure Rare that does not exist in the Japanese list — ST10-010 Trafalgar Law in 500 Years in the Future and OP07-109 Monkey.D.Luffy in Two Legends. Both count 151 English entries against 150 Japanese.
Is there an English version of EB-04 Egghead Crisis?
Not as its own set. The EB-04 cards were split across two English boosters, The Azure Sea's Seven and Adventure on KAMI's Island, keeping their EB04 numbers.
How long is the wait for the English print now?
Much shorter than it was. It ran 14 to 19 weeks through 2023 and 2024, then fell steadily: 11 weeks for OP-12, 7 for OP-14, 4 for OP-15, 1 for OP-16, and 6 days for OP-17.
